HNSciCloud as the functional basis for the future EOSC - HNSciCloud at Open Science Fair Athens 6-8 September 2017

Open Science Fair 2017 Athens 6-8 September (OSFair2017) was organized as an emblematic initiative of four EU projects in the area of Open Science: OpenAIRE, OpenUP, FOSTER and OpenMinTeD. The conference is locally curated by the National Kapodestrian University of Athens and the “Athena” Research and Innovation Center and co-sponsored by the National Library of Greece. 

IBM, one of the contractors of the HNSciCloud consortium, was invited to join the workshop "EOSC MEETS ENTERPRISES’ NEEDS!", to discuss on what the industry thinks about EOSCpilot and what their expectations are.

The plenary session was organized by the EOSCpilot project which aims to improve the ability to reuse data resources and provide an important step towards building a dependable open-data research environment. In this framework, this  dedicated to the industry plenary session was enhance industry's engagement and allow enlightening of industry’s perspectives.

Harris Linardakis, Cloud Leader of IBM Greece and Cyprus, invited as panel speaker, he presented during the session expertise and challenges IBM is facing in building a hybrid cloud platform for HNSciCloud PCP. ​Harris Linardakis also highlighted IBM's prospective that they consider HNSciCloud as the functional basis for the future EOSC.

The workshop has brought together different stakeholder perspectives and suggested "roadmaps" towards implementation on targeted aspects of Open Science.
