External Advisory Board
The HNSciCloud External Advisory Board is formed of an external panel of senior experts which includes Martin Canning, Linda Strick, Frank van Dam and Elena Zvarici.
The aim of the panel is to advise the PCP Collaboration Board on strategic matters as to how the PCP tender process is organised and executed.
Group Vice President, European Consulting IDC
Based in IDC's Amsterdam office Martin Canning holds the position of Group Vice president, European Consulting. In this role he manages IDC's consulting and custom research business in Western Europe and is responsible for the successful delivery of client projects across all areas of IDC's ICT markets coverage. His organization works closely with IDC's clients to understand their specific needs and requirements and to tailor solutions to support their business objectives. Previously he was responsible for IDC's software and IT services research in Europe, and has 20 years' experience with IDC covering all aspects of the software and IT services markets.. He is a regular speaker and facilitator at high-level conferences, events, and dinners, covering a broad range of topics related to the use of ICT investments to improve overall business efficiency. Martin Canning joined IDC in October 1996. Previous to this he spent over 9 years at Lucent Technologies Network Systems (formerly AT&T Network Systems). During his time at Lucent Technologies he held various positions including Bids and Proposals management for activities in the Russian market and Product Management responsibilities for international markets Mr. Canning holds a bachelors degree in Electronic Engineering from Dublin City University (Dublin, Ireland).
Business developer at Fraunhofer FOKUS, Cloud for Europe Project Director
Linda Strick has been with Fraunhofer-Institute FOKUS for over 20 years. She works as a business developer in the application domain of eGovernment. Her main areas of work are in: distributed systems for telecommunications, Service Oriented Architectures and Cloud Computing. She is responsible for the Cloud Computing Lab at FOKUS, which is part of the eGovernment interoperability lab. She has been working with national and international projects, in standardisation organisations and has published several papers. She is the coordinator of the CloudforEurope project funded by the European Commission under its Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
Frank van Dam
Enterprise IT Architect / Information Strategist at ICTU
Frank van Dam works as an Enterprise IT Architect / Information Strategist at ICTU for numerous Public-Sector bodies and projects in The Netherlands. In addition, in a European context he is active in various projects and initiatives.
His expertise includes Business / IT strategy and Architecture; cloud computing; e-government; e-health. Some European projects and initiatives he works or used to work for, are: Cloud for Europe (FP7 project); Citadel (H2020 project); ENISA publications on Cloud Security; ETSI Cloud standards; publications for E-challenges.
Frank is determined that adopting innovative solutions help the Public Sector: work more efficient; facilitate changes; work in a modern way that fits society; improve the quality of its services.
Creative and forward thinking IT professional with great communication skills and 12-year industry experience. Proven ability to combine in-depth industry knowledge with well-developed project management, leadership qualities, knowledge of IT future trends and strong business acumen to provide expert guidance in multiple IT industry sectors. Involved in numerous IT projects and served as an IT security consultant for telecom and corporate customers.
