The HNSciCloud Adopter Group

Opening procurement of HNSciCloud services via the "Early Adopter Group"

Since its creation in 2011, Helix Nebula has grown to become a leading public-private partnership between public research actors and cloud service providers. The initiative has brought together cloud infrastructure providers and large scientific user communities to overcome barriers to adoption of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) for scientific use. The initiative has undertaken its first joint Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) tender called Helix Nebula Science Cloud (HNSciCloud) to create a common hybrid science cloud platform for the European research community.

Over past months, the HNSciCloud consortium has promoted the common hybrid science cloud platform currently under development to groups of research communities, organisations and ESFRI research infrastructures across Europe resulting in a number of requests from organisations wishing to join the procurement group. This is why HNSciCloud decided to form an ‘Early adopter group’.

Who can join the Early Adopter Group and with which benefits?

The Early Adopter group will be made of research organisations wishing to become procurers for the resulting HNSciCloud services and wanting to take advantage of all the benefits related to joint procurement.

These are only a few of the benefits that the new procurers can obtain:

  • the opportunity to evaluate the use of commercially-supported cloud services that have been selected  and  tested  by  the group of HNSciCloud  procurers against  a  range  of  use-cases that are directly relevant to the research community.
  • the ability to make use of the legal framework and access conditions established by HNSciCloud.
  • the possibility to obtain funds for the use of the cloud services via their regional, national or EC projects (subject to the EC’s Project Officer’s approval).
